We continue to work on circles:

inscribed and central angles, cyclic quads, tangency,

polygons, perp bisector.

Will move on to Co-ordinate geometry by Friday.

Final check for MAJOR JOURNAL Friday….final copy due TUESDAY JUNE 9th.

This week we will have a test prep for final exam due each day:

on rational exps, circles, tangents, graphing inequalities, abs values,  and reasoning.

Last quiz on MONDAY JUNE 8th on formal geometry proofs and circles.

We will navigate through intro to inductive and deductive reasoning, working on arithmetic and geometic sequences, 1st, 2nd and 3rd diff constant equations, conjectures, valid statements, counterexamples, into formal proofs. The “MAJOR” journal will be explained on Tuesday with this due the last day of class.

On Friday, May 22 at 7:00 p.m. Morell Regional will be holding our Annual Prize Bingo in aid of our school yearbook . We are asking families to donate a prize for the Bingo if possible. All donations can be dropped off at the School and your support would be greatly appreciated.

We are working on intro to deductive and inductive reasoning.

2 packages of problems handed out to the class. First a review on factor theorem, remainder theorem , long and synthetic division which is due Wed.

we are working from the book on chapter called”reasonong” and will progress through inductive reaoning part adding in a complete review of basic geometry definitions on angles, parallel lines and problems with them as well.

We will continue to work on Absolute Value Inequality problems.

Then we will graph linear inequality problems, systems of linear inequalities, and absolute value inequalities. Also we work use the factor theorem and long and synthetic division to simplify polynomials and wrap up this section with linear programming. Expect next quiz after 5-7 classes.

For materials missed, extra help is available Monday after school.

BREAK OVER!!!!

Welcome back Monday!!

We are to prep for Quiz #2 on simplifying rational expressions.

Make sure you can factor: diff squares, cubes, trinomials, 2 grouping types and incomplete trinomials as a bonus.

Know also, domain, restrictions, zeroes, when to cancel and when not to cancel.

Remember only cancel when entire problem is in a factored(multiply/divide) stae and otherwise + or – as signs indicate. As well, if start with a fraction then answer will be a rational result.(fractional form) The LCM used we stay until factoring allows any cancelling and will not ever entirely disappear,,,,could be 1.

Quiz planned for WEDNESDAY!

Extra help Tuesday if needed.

#1-#31.

We will work on product and quotient of rational expressions in class.

THURSDAY MARCH 5

Posted in Uncategorized on March 5, 2009 by wdmacewen

We are working on simplifying rational expressions. Worksheet is the focus today after we go over factoring “by grouping”.

anyone who wants to go over their test , see me and we can find time. This material will be in midterm in April.

MONDAY MARCH 2

Posted in Uncategorized on February 28, 2009 by wdmacewen

As discussed last week the quiz will be held on Monday. We will continue with simplifying rational expressions on Tuesday. To do these questions you must know how to factor.

Factoring types:

1. Remove common factor

2. Simple and other trinomials

3. Difference of 2 perfect squares

4. Sum and difference of 2 perfect cubes.

5. Grouping for difference of squares

6. Grouping for a common term.

Practice sheet has been handed out for work Tuesday and on this weekend.
